, New Delhi. Akshay Oberoi has become a well-known name in the world of OTT platforms. He has many great crime shows to his name, in which Akshay has impressed by playing various characters. Akshay will now be seen in the web series Dil Bekraar, which is a period family drama, coming on Disney Plus Hotstar on 26th November.

Set in the eighties, the series is based on Anuja Chauhan’s novel Two Pricey Thakur Girls. Akshay is playing the role of a journalist in this series. He is paired opposite Sahar Bamba in the series, while sharing screen space with English cinema stalwarts Raj Babbar, Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon.

In the series, you are sharing screen space with senior actors like Raj Babbar, Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure. How was the atmosphere on the set?

With what mouth can I say that I am such a big fan of these people! I have learned from them. Inspired. They are pillars of our industry, but they never let us feel that there are such great actors. Everyone used to walk on the set.

How difficult was it for you to live in the eighties and what preparations did you make?

My character is a journalist, who used to use a typewriter in those days. Habib Faisal sahib had sent the typewriter at home. I practiced for three to four months. When some idea came, they used to call and tell that the people of that period were like this. The men were like this and the conversation was like this. The director had done a lot of work for us, so many things became easy. Me and Sahar did a lot of workshops.

You have worked mostly in crime dramas. For the first time, he will be seen in the family show. Any particular reason behind this?

I have some attachment to this type of genre, but then I felt that I should stretch myself as an artist. Must do something different. I don’t give much importance to box office success, failure. I see how much I am growing as an artist. Having worked with such a great artist, it seems that I have grown now. For me it has been a successful project in that sense.

In the trailer of Dil Bekraar, it is shown that your character does a review of Sahar’s news bulletin, which he finds bad. Ever happened to you in real life that you found your review bad?

This has happened many times, but not at the level that is filled with love and romance. Have done a lot of good work and done bad too, but I get angry less. I must have listened and got depressed and moved away from there… So this has not happened in real life, it has definitely happened in the heart.

You have done a lot of crime shows. In such a situation, what will you say about the desperate heart?

Such a show has not come on OTT for a long time, which the whole family can watch sitting together. But Dil Bekarar is such a show that the whole family can watch together.
