Eight franchises are raining money to retain their favorite players for this mega event to be held next year. Meanwhile, Kerala batsman Sanju Samson has been retained by his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Rajasthan Royals ahead of the mega auction (IPL 2022 Auction).
According to news agency ANI, the names of other players retained by Rajasthan Royals will be revealed in the next few days. Samson was included in the Rajasthan Royals team for the second time in 2018. He was appointed the captain of the team before the start of IPL 2021. The right-handed batsman scored a scintillating century in his first IPL match as captain.

According to a report in ESPN, Samson has signed a contract with Rajasthan Royals, where the franchise has agreed to pay the wicketkeeper-batsman a hefty sum of Rs. The RR franchise will give him Rs 14 crore every season. Let us tell you that Samson was signed by the Royals in 2018 for Rs 8 crore. With the increase in salary, Samson has become one of the highest paid domestic cricketers in the Indian Premier League.

Samson made his IPL debut in 2013 with Rajasthan Royals. However, after spending two seasons with the franchise, he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved the retention of a maximum of four players by the current eight teams ahead of the IPL 2022 Super Auction. Teams are allowed to have a maximum of three Indian players or at least two Indians if they are also holding two foreign cricketers. Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Liam Livingstone, Rahul Tewatia, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis are some of the main names, Rajasthan can retain any two of them.
