At a time when the entire nation is cheering their favorite teams on their television screens. Amidst this rampant cricket fever, Delhi Police on Sunday busted a gambling racket in Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. The Outer District Wing of the city police has arrested six persons and recovered around Rs 1.25 lakh, 75,000 cash including ten mobile phones, two LED TVs and voice recorders.
During the raid, the police also recovered a suitcase containing a device attached to five mobile phones for gambling activities on several matches, besides call merger microphone etc. The names of the arrested accused are being told as Rahul Garg, Kunal Garg, Sanjeev Kumar, Ashok Sharma, Dharmatma Sharma and Kanhaiya.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Outer Sameer Sharma said, “We have registered a case under Section 3/4/9/55 Gambling Act at PS Nihal Vihar. All the accused have been arrested and investigation has been started.”
Police officer said, “Special drive against organized crime is being conducted in Outer District. Special Staff Outer District has worked meticulously and booked 05 gamblers, with recovery of Rs.74,740/cash, 10 mobile phones,- Two Laptops, 03 Internet Routers, 02 LED TVs, Voice Recorder, Call Merger Microphone, 02 Gambling Record Keepers and 01 Suitcase Gambling Equipment with 05 Mobile Phones Attached to Gambling in IPL Matches All these things have been recovered.”
He further said that on receipt of tip-off about a gambling racket operating in Chander Vihar, a team of Special Staff of the district raided the said premises in which six persons accused of gambling activities in IPL matches by using laptops. were found. After this all the six people were arrested.
