Sydney, PTI. The talent of fast bowler Umran Malik, who has emerged as a youth sensation in the Indian Premier League, has impressed legends across the world. Former Australia captain Ian Chappell believes that India’s cricket establishment has shown patience over the years in producing world-class bowlers but it will be difficult to ignore the real pace of Umran Malik in the near future.

Chappell wrote, ‘The fast bowling revolution in India is showing no signs of slowing down. Umran Malik’s name is in the hearts and minds of those who watch IPL. In the past, India have shown patience in developing their fast bowling group, but Malik’s real pace is hard to ignore. In a world where fast bowling is valued, there are now many stars coming out of India. IPL indeed played a huge role in transforming India into a major force in world cricket.

Umran has played a total of 11 matches so far in this season in which he has 15 wickets to his name. In the match played against Delhi Capitals on May 5, Umran bowled the fastest ball of the season. He once again surprised all the veterans by throwing the ball at a speed of 157 kmph.

Chappell said, “India are a strong international team at present and will continue to be a leading team if they continue to show the passion they need. India should thank the highly successful IPL for this success.

“The development of star fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Muhammad Shami and Muhammad Siraj has played a vital role in enhancing India’s reputation overseas. There is depth in this group. The team also has options like Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur.
