Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the ODI series against South Africa due to being Corona positive. The national selection committee has roped in off-spinner Jayant Yadav as a replacement for Sundar. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted this information.

Sundar became Kovid-19 positive during the training camp held in Bengaluru. Sundar was to leave for Cape Town along with the rest of the ODI team on Wednesday. Earlier the news was coming out that Sundar might be out of the first match, but now he is out of the entire series.

Saini will also be part of ODI team
Young fast bowler Navdeep Saini has also been included in the ODI squad as a back-up for Mohammad Siraj, who was injured due to a hamstring strain in the second Test against Africa. Saini has taken 6 wickets in 8 ODIs played so far. At the same time, Jayant played the only ODI match for India in the year 2016 and was successful in taking a wicket.

Rahul will be the captain of the team
KL Rahul has been named the captain of the team due to the unavailability of injured Rohit Sharma for the ODI series against South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah will be the vice-captain. The first ODI will be played on January 19. The second ODI will be played on January 21 and the third on January 23. Right now both the teams are playing test series.

Indian team will play ODI after about 6 months
Team India played only 6 ODI matches in 2021. In this format, India played its last match against Sri Lanka on 23 July. During that series, India’s main team was on a tour of England, so then the B team was selected.
