Former Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal believes that if fast bowler Umran Malik, coming from Jammu and Kashmir, had been a part of Pakistan cricket, he would have entered international cricket by now. Malik is currently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022 and for his team, he is the second highest wicket-taker this season. The young pacer has taken 15 wickets in 11 matches played so far.
Akmal, who played for Rajasthan Royals in IPL, was part of the 2008 champion team. He believes that even though Malik’s economy is a bit high, he manages to make an impact in the game by giving his team consistent break throughs. The former cricketer also praised Indian cricket and said that in the last few years, good work has been done on the option of fast bowlers.
a pakistani on youtube channel During the interview, Kamran Akmal while talking on Umran Malik said, “Had he been in Pakistan, he would have played international cricket now. His economy is high but he is a strike bowler, so that’s why he gets wickets. After every match His speed chart comes in which he has bowled at a speed of 155 km/h and he is not stopping. It is good that the competition is tough to make a place in the Indian team.”

‘Now India also has great pacers’
Akmal believes that India now has some strong fast bowlers, which were not there earlier. He said that the Indian selectors will have trouble choosing players for the team in future. He said, “Earlier Indian cricket lacked quality pacers. But now they have a bunch of fast bowlers which includes Navdeep Saini, (Mohammed) Siraj, (Mohammed) Shami, and (Jasprit) Bumrah. Even Umesh Yadav is also bowling well. Having 10-12 pacers together will make team selection difficult for the Indian selectors.
According to Kamran Akmal, due to Umran Malik playing the entire IPL season, there has been a tremendous increase in the morale of the young bowler. Along with this, he compared Malik with great bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee.

Compared to Akhtar and Brett Lee
Akmal said, “Last season he played only one or two matches. Had he been in Pakistan, he would have played for us. But Indian cricket has shown a lot of maturity to Malik playing the entire IPL season. Brett Lee and Shoaib (Akhtar) Bhai also proved to be very expensive at times but he used to take wickets and so should a strike bowler.
