New Delhi, Jnn. Filmmaker Karan Johar is all set for the release of his film ‘Jug Jug Jio’. He also launched the trailer of the film on Sunday. During which he also gave his statement on the controversy of South and Hindi films which broke out recently. Karan says that even though in recent times, three South Indian films have done remarkable business at the box office across the country, there is no competition between Hindi and Southern cinema.
During an interaction with the media during the trailer launch of ‘Jug Jug Jio’, he was asked many questions about South’s films. When asked if he feels the potential competition at the box office after the recent success of South Indian films, IANS reported. So Karan said, “There is no competition between Hindi and South cinema. I was one of those filmmakers who presented ‘Baahubali’ because I believed in the power of cinema beyond language. There is no competition between these two industries. No, how can anyone be there? We should grow together. Competition will not serve the main objective, which is to do good business as a film industry.”
Before presenting the trailer to the media, Johar emphasized on the word ‘Hindi film trailer’ and was then asked the motive behind doing so. Karan said, “When films like ‘RRR’, ‘Pushpa’, ‘KGF’ did good business and the audience loved those films, we can proudly say that it is an achievement of Indian cinema. He took our Indian cinema to a high standard. Be it Prashanth Neel or Rajamouli sir, he has in a way tried to prove the fact that our level of cinema can be so great!”
Johar further added, “So when I specifically mentioned it as a ‘Hindi film’ during the trailer launch of my film, it is a technicality; our Hindi film ‘Gangubai’ did well, recently released. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ has got a very good opening. So as producers of the film, we want our film to also come in the list of successful films.”
