Bangalore, Agency. Congress’s Legislative Council candidate Yusuf Sharif alias KGF Babu alias Scrap Babu, associated with the property business, has declared assets worth Rs 1,743 crore and has become the richest leader in Karnataka. Congress has fielded Yusuf Sharif as the Legislative Council (MLC) candidate from Bangalore Urban Area. Earlier BJP leader and State Small Industries Minister MTB Nagraj had declared assets worth Rs 1,200 crore and was considered the richest leader of the state, now Sharif has surpassed him.

In an affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, Sharif has said that he has a wristwatch worth Rs 1.10 crore and 4.8 kg of gold. Apart from this, there is also agricultural and non-agricultural land worth Rs 1,593.27 crore around Bengaluru. Sharif’s assets include movable assets worth Rs 100 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 1643.59 crore. However, sources say that Sharif’s assets are more than Rs 4,000 crore. Sharif had bought his Rolls-Royce Phantom car from megastar Amitabh Bachchan and he had been in the news recently as the transport department officials had confiscated his car for lack of documents.

Sharif is the eldest of 14 siblings, the eldest of 14 children of his parents, Sharif spent his childhood in poverty. He grew up in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF). Tried his hand in many businesses. Worked in the scrap department of Bharat Gold Mine. Sharif’s two wives and five children Sharif’s father used to run the bakery earlier.
