Melbourne : Khalistan supporters targeted the Honorary Consulate of India in Australia’s Brisbane city and hoisted the Khalistan flag on the office. This was stated in a media report on Friday.
The incident comes days after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the country and stressed the need for vigilance against “radical activities” targeting the Indian community in Australia.
According to ‘The Australia Today’ portal, the Honorary Consulate of India at Swan Road in Brisbane’s Taringa suburb was targeted by Khalistan supporters on the night of 21 February.
The report said India’s Honorary Consul in Brisbane, Archana Singh, saw a Khalistan flag at the office on February 22. Singh told The Australia Today, “Police are monitoring the area to keep us safe. We have strong faith in the police authority.” This incident happened at a time when three Hindu temples in Australia have also been vandalized by Khalistan supporters.
