Cape Town, ANI. Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Thursday slammed India Test captain Virat Kohli for his reaction to the controversial DRS decision during the ongoing third Test against South Africa in Cape Town. The former Indian opener said that Kohli’s reaction shows immaturity. South Africa captain Dean Elgar took a review against LBW in the fourth innings of the Cape Town Test and survived. The incident happened in the 21st over of the innings, which was bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin. Kohli, Ashwin and KL Rahul were so unhappy with the decision that they vented anger on the stump mic.

In a conversation with Star Sports, Gambhir said, ‘It is really bad. The way Kohli reacted to the stump mic really showed his immaturity. You don’t expect this from an international captain from an Indian captain. The technology is not in your hands. You should have reacted like this when there was an appeal for a cut behind the leg-side. Nor did Dean Elgar react that way. Mayank looked out during an appeal for Agarwal, but Elgar didn’t react that way.

Gambhir further said that he expects head coach Rahul Dravid to talk about his antics with Kohli on Thursday. He said, ‘You cannot be a role model by reacting like this. No young cricketer would want to see this kind of reaction, especially from the Indian captain. Whatever the outcome of a Test match, you don’t expect that from a Test captain who has led the team for so long. I hope Rahul Dravid will talk to him about it because the kind of captain Dravid was, he would never react like this.
