Amid a sudden increase in the cases of corona virus infection in Gujarat, the state government on Tuesday announced that only a maximum of 150 people will be allowed to attend social, religious or political events, including marriage ceremonies. An official release said that the decision to fix the limit on participation in such events was taken by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel after reviewing the current status of corona virus infection during a core committee meeting in Gandhinagar.

Till now, 400 people were allowed to attend social, religious, educational, political or cultural events including weddings in the state, but now this number has been reduced to only 150. According to the release, there will be a new ban in the entire state till 6 am on January 22. Other restrictions, such as the night curfew announced in 10 cities on January 7, will remain in force across the state till January 22.
