An Islamabad court on Saturday sent senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party leader Fawad Chaudhry to two-day remand in a case of allegedly inciting violence against a constitutional body. This information was given from the news in the media.
Fawad, a close aide of party president and former prime minister Imran Khan, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly inciting violence against the constitutional body (Election Commission of Pakistan), Dawn newspaper reported.
The action was taken after an FIR was registered against Chaudhary at Kohsar police station in Islamabad on the complaint of the Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan. Chowdhary, a former information and broadcasting minister, is facing sedition charges for publicly “threatening” members of the Election Commission.
Chaudhary was brought to the court on Saturday with his head covered in a black cloth on the instructions of Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Mehmood Khan, who said that the presence of a suspect in the court is mandatory in cases where investigators seek remand.
The court had earlier reserved its verdict by directing the police to produce Chaudhary before the court.
In an order issued on Saturday, the judicial magistrate ordered the Islamabad police to produce the former minister before his court on January 30 after the expiry of his remand period.
