An FIR has been registered against Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya in Lucknow. Swami Prasad Maurya had given a controversial statement regarding Ramcharitmanas, after which this case has been registered against him. On the complaint of complainant Shivendra Mishra, a case has been registered against Maurya under sections 153a, 295A, 298, 504 505(2) of IPC.

Swami Prasad Maurya had raised questions regarding Ramcharitmanas. He had demanded to change the chaupai of Ramcharitmanas. After which the dispute increased. After his statement, the Samajwadi Party and Swami Prasad Maurya came under attack from the BJP. However, the party distanced itself from Swamy’s statement.

BJP leader Aparna Yadav hit back at Swami Prasad Maurya. Aparna while talking to Republic TV said “He should take back his words. They are making a big attack on Sanatan. He is a responsible person of the society, so this does not suit him. Ramcharitmanas is read in Sanatan Dharma. There is no such sentiment of Manas Patal which is not expressed on Ramcharitmanas. Ram is the character and ideal of India. It is a very unfortunate thing to say about Ram like this. How despicable is Swami Prasad’s statement, it reflects his personality.

Republic TV spoke to Swami Prasad Maurya on his controversial statement. Maurya said that “We respect all religions, the aim of religion is human welfare, human respect, and human development, but if in the name of religion, a particular caste, class is rewarded with derogatory remarks, then naturally than he is objectionable.

He further said that “In the Ramcharitmanas written by Tulsidas ji, there are some parts which have made derogatory comments by using caste-indicative words, indicating the name of a particular caste. We have objections to the derogatory comments.”

Swami Prasad Maurya, referring to Ramcharitmanas’s chaupai “Dhol, Gavar, Shudra animal woman, officer of gross chastisement”, said that “The fourth varna of Hindu religion is the Shudra community, which is 85 percent of the entire population. It is objectionable to say about.”
