Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun: On the second day at the Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Congress organized under the aegis of UCAST at Graphic Era Deemed University, the strategy to deal with Kovid, new techniques related to disposal of e-waste and increasing the production of crops were discussed in detail. Scientists said that Corona has given us many lessons. It has been taught that instead of relying on one method of treatment, we should also use other methods of increasing immunity and prevention. It is high time that we should also take advantage of certified Ayurveda.

In the technical session, the need to focus on strong health care infrastructure and systems to make best use of it to deal with disasters. At the same time, during the disaster, emphasis was laid on saving the migrant laborers from troubles and keeping the arrangements ready to continue business activities in advance. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Director, Institute of Himalaya Bio Resource Technology said that by using the available resources in the Himalayan region through scientific methods, revolutionary changes can be brought about in the bio-economy. Describing his experience, he said that with the use of agro technology, the production of crops like stevia, saffron, asafoetida, cardamom increases greatly. Success has been achieved in producing Lilium flower and Mizoram apple in Lahaul of Himachal. Due to this, the income of farmers has increased five times as compared to traditional crops. With the introduction of tulip cultivation in Lahaul, the number of tourists has also increased.

Scientists said that more than eight lakh tonnes of electronic waste is being generated every year in the country. Making people aware to reduce e-waste and teaching them how to fix used bulbs, tube lights can yield very good results. During this, emphasis was laid on bringing awareness and use of technology to save water sources from environmental changes in the Himalayan region.
