A Rajya Sabha seat will also be vacant in the state after he is elected as the Chief Minister. It is also being said that Biplab Deb can be made a candidate from this Rajya Sabha seat.

Let us inform that Biplab Kumar Dev had submitted his resignation letter to Governor SN Arya today and he had said that the party is paramount for him. Biplab Kumar Dev had said on his resignation that the party wants him to work for the strength of the organization. Assembly elections are to be held in Tripura next year i.e. in March 2023. Whereas the last assembly election was held in February 2018. Tripura has a 60-member Legislative Assembly. With 43 per cent votes, the BJP formed the government for the first time in the state by winning 36 seats and ending the long-standing Left rule there. Left parties got only 16 seats in that election.
