Marathi actress Ketaki Chitale was arrested on Saturday for sharing a derogatory post on Facebook against NCP chief Sharad Pawar. A case was registered against Ketki in Thane city of Maharashtra on Saturday. When Ketki was being arrested and taken away by the police, at the same time some women workers of the party threw ink at him. It is alleged that the post shared by television and film actress Chitale a day ago was written by someone else. There is no direct mention of the NCP chief or his full name in the post written in Marathi. However, it has written Pawar’s surname and 80 years of age. It reads, “Hell awaits and you hate Brahmins.”

A case has been registered against Chitale under sections 500, 501, 505 (2), 153A of the IPC. In Pune, the NCP had written a letter to the police, demanding action against them for Chitale’s post. Another Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal had also demanded immediate action against the actress. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has also condemned Chitale’s post. Rupali Chakankar, chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, condemned such a statement in Nagpur.
