Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh has made a big attack on former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. He said that giving more power to BSF in Punjab is a conspiracy of Amarinder Singh. In the first visit to Delhi, he got the purchase of paddy delayed by 10 days and got the decision of BSF done for the second time. He said that Captain Amarinder Singh, in collaboration with the Bharatiya Janata Party, is conspiring to impose President’s rule in Punjab.

Pargat said that Captain Amarinder Singh should not do this as we consider him a big leader. Captain Amarinder Singh is working with the central government against Punjab. By giving 50 kms to BSF, half of Punjab is coming under BSF’s jurisdiction. With this a conspiracy is being hatched to polarize the community harmony and votes in Punjab.

Pargat was a staunch opponent of Amarinder
Pargat Singh has been a staunch opponent of Captain Amarinder Singh in Punjab. When Amarinder was the Chief Minister, Pargat used to make open statements against him. Even Pargat Singh stood by the ministers who took the lead in removing Amarinder Singh from the CM’s chair. Pargat is close to Navjot Sidhu and was in the race to become a minister. Although Captain Amarinder Singh did not make him a minister, after which Sidhu became active and became close to him. When Captain Amarinder Singh was removed from the Chief Minister’s chair and Charanjit Channi was made the CM, Pargat Singh also became a minister. He was also given the Ministry of Education along with sports.

Pargat is considered close to Navjot Sidhu.

Changed attitude towards Sidhu as soon as he became a minister
Pargat Singh was always with Sidhu till the time Captain Amarinder Singh was the Chief Minister. Pargat’s attitude towards Sidhu also changed when he was made a minister in the new government. After Sidhu’s resignation, only Razia Sultana left the ministerial post while Pargat Singh, a close aide, refused to resign. He did not even leave the post of General Secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress in support of Sidhu.
