Lal Bahadur Shastri: Was the first prime minister who came here
According to Anand Shankar Vyas, senior priest of Mahakal temple, Prime Minister Modi will be the 5th Prime Minister, who will visit Mahakal. Before this, Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Morarji Desai, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have also visited Baba Mahakal. He told that he does not remember the year, but first former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri had come here to have darshan. Then it was my uncle Pandit Surya Narayan Vyas who got Shastri ji worshiped.
Morarji Desai: The carpet was laid at the reception
Pandit Vyas told that in 1977, as the leader of the Janata Party, former Prime Minister Morarji Desai came to Ujjain and first reached the Mahakal temple. Then I got the worship done. Here, by taking the blessings of God, he had done the conch shell of the election campaign. Then for the first time a carpet was laid here to welcome a leader. The hired police band was called. Here in Kshirsagar, Morarji held a meeting in support of the Indian Lok Dal candidate Hukumchand Kachhay. They had gone to Kachvay’s house only after walking on the carpet. Only after this Morarji became the fourth Prime Minister of the country.
Indira Gandhi: When removed from the post, Mahakal came to visit before the election
On 30 December 1979, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi reached Ujjain and offered prayers to Baba Mahakal. Earlier, on June 12, 1975, Indira Gandhi was removed from office by the Allahabad High Court for six years. After this, before the elections held in 1979, Indira had darshan of Mahakal. When she reached the temple, the Bhasma aarti was going on, so she had darshan from outside. Keeping coconut and offerings, she started returning. After walking a few steps, she suddenly stopped and stood in the corridor of the sanctum sanctorum for about 20 minutes. After the aarti, worshiped in the sanctum sanctorum for about 35 minutes. With the blessings of Mahakal, she again became the Prime Minister of the country in 1980.
Rajiv Gandhi: Came for election campaign
In 1989, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had come to campaign in favor of former Congress leader Manohar Bairagi. Bairagi was the MLA candidate from Congress. After the meeting in Ujjain, Gandhi reached the Mahakaleshwar temple. After taking the blessings of Mahakal, they stayed in the temple premises for about 30 minutes.

At present, the official program of PM Narendra Modi has not come. According to the schedule so far, on October 11, Modi will first visit the Mahakal temple. After this you will reach Triveni Museum. After lighting the lamp at the Nandi gate built here, Mahakal will inaugurate the path after getting worship done by the government priest of the Mahakal temple. The campus will have all the facilities ranging from walking, lodging, rest. Collector Ashish Singh said that by September 30, all the work of the first phase has been completed. After this the area of the temple will become 47 hectares.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated his dream project Varanasi’s Kashi Vishwanath Corridor 9 months ago. Vishwanath Dham has been built at a cost of more than 800 crores. According to a story, Mahakal appeared to protect human beings from the demon named Dushan. After killing the demon, Baba sat here in the form of Jyotirlinga on the request of the devotees. After this, Ranajirao Shinde got the temple built in 1736. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas, Shiva is enshrined in the Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain in the form of Dakshin Mukhi Jyotirlinga. The temple has 3 parts, at the bottom is the Jyotirlinga in the sanctum. Mata Parvati, Ganesh and Kartikeya are seated here with Lord Shiva. The Omkareshwar temple is situated in the middle and the Nagchandreshwar temple at the top. Mahakal is the only temple where Bhasma Aarti takes place.

Oxygen plant will be set up in Rudra Sagar
The most difficult task for the Mahakal corridor was the cleaning of the Rudra Sagar. To accomplish this, the sewer line meeting at Rudrasagar was dismantled. A line has been attached to the Shipra river to ensure that there is water throughout the year. Fountains are also being installed along with the surrounding structure, so that the water continues to circulate. In future, oxygen plant will also be installed to clean water in Rudra Sagar.
