Influenza News: Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said on Friday that the city government has directed officials to conduct quick tests to detect cases of ‘influenza’ virus in the national capital. Bhardwaj said in a press conference that the cases of ‘Influenza’ virus usually subside by the end of March, but this time a large number of cases have been reported in many parts of the country.
Bhardwaj said the government has no plans to make wearing masks mandatory. The focus right now is on taking precautionary measures like avoiding going to public places, washing hands frequently etc. He said, “People who have severe asthma or Kovid-19 are most vulnerable to influenza. Children below five years of age and elders above 65 years of age need to take more precautions.
Delhi Health Minister said that Center has issued Covid advisory to six states, Delhi is not included in it. He said, “However, we are issuing advisories to prevent the spread of influenza. These precautionary measures will be followed in cases of Kovid-19 and Influenza. “He said,” Instructions have been issued to the officials of district surveillance units, health facilities and government hospitals to monitor the situation on a daily basis. All the districts have been asked to ensure that the investigation is done quickly to detect the cases.
Bhardwaj said that there are not many cases of influenza in Delhi hospitals but we are alert and monitoring the situation. The health minister said that the government will issue advertisements in newspapers and on FM radio channels to spread awareness. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) states that influenza cases in India are increasing due to ‘H3N2’ subtype of ‘influenza A’. People with H3N2 have a higher hospitalization rate than any other subtype of ‘influenza A’. Symptoms include runny nose, persistent cough and fever.
