Dainik Digital had reported the protest of villagers and panchayat representatives on the construction of Bangran bridge in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Panchayat representatives had raised questions on the repair work being done in the rainy season. Taking cognizance of this, the Public Works Department has stopped the repair work of the bridge. After which the movement of vehicles has started.
It is worth mentioning that on June 17, DC Ram Kumar Gautam of district Sirmaur had ordered the closure of traffic till July 16 for the repair of Bangran bridge over Giri river on the recommendation of PWD. Due to this the general public was facing difficulties in movement. After which the Panchayat representatives raised questions on the repair work being done in the rainy season.
Panchayat representatives had said that the risk of floods in the Giri river increases during the rainy season. In such a situation, the alternative arrangement for movement will be closed. Apart from this, the bridge built on the Giri river near Manpur Deora will have to travel 10 kilometers for movement. DC had sought a report from the PWD in this regard whether the work should be continued or stopped.
KL Chaudhary, executive engineer of Paonta Sahib division, said that the repair work of the bridge has been stopped. Right now, in the monsoon season, people could face problems in movement. The temporary bridge has also been removed now. Now the work will start after the monsoon season is over.
