Motorcycle maker Royal Enfield has announced the launch of a local assembly unit (CKD) in Thailand. This is the company’s third local assembly unit in Latin America after Argentina and Colombia. In total, the company has 31 exclusive stores and 40 other retail touchpoints across countries in Latin America.

“The unit will serve as a supply hub for all other countries in South-East Asia, including Indonesia and Vietnam, besides meeting the demand in the local market of Thailand,” Royal Enfield said in a statement on Thursday. “The facility will start this month with local assembly of models like Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650,” the company said.

The first assembly unit outside the country was set up in Argentina
Royal Enfield installed the first assembly unit outside India at Campea in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Coming to India, Royal Enfield currently produces bikes at its manufacturing facilities in Chennai. Commenting on the setting up of the new facility in Thailand, Royal Enfield Executive Director B Govindarajan said, “In order to scale up the business and meet the growing demand, we are looking at setting up local assembly units in key markets starting with Argentina in 2020 and Colombia this year. are implementing their plan to do so.”
