The people of Ambala found new employment opportunities during the Corona period. Made sanitizer and exported it in the country and abroad. 30 firms did a turnover of more than 10.26 billion during the Corona period.

When Corona started in March 2020, at that time only one firm Ron & Baker used to make sanitizer in Ambala, but as soon as Corona started, other firms also saw the field of sanitizer as a good performance. Then one by one 29 other firms started making sanitizers by taking drug license from Haryana. Due to being a good quality sanitizer, the firms here started getting orders from other countries along with the country. From here the sanitizer was exported to Australia, Nepal, Singapore and Arabian countries.

The firms in Ambala paid about Rs 16.94 crore Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) while doing business. Whereas State GST has been paid Rs 2.16 crore. Apart from this, Center GST has been paid about Rs 2.25 crore.

Duplicate sanitizers were also caught

While the firms of Ambala found employment opportunities during the Corona period, duplicate sanitizers were also prepared. Ambala’s drug controller had busted a fake sanitizer maker in a house behind BD floor in March 2020. The police had registered a case against the accused.

Apart from this, the factory manufacturing fake sanitizers in Saha was also caught by the AYUSH department. Not only this, there was a business of fake sanitizer in Ludhiana in the name of a firm based in Ambala. A case was also registered by the Punjab Police. The same firm registered three cases in Delhi and one in Rewari.

Turnover of top-10 firms

There were offers from Australia, Singapore and many countries but made only for the country: Sunil

Sunil Dutt, the proprietor of Ron & Baker, said that his firm has a 13-year-old license to manufacture sanitizers. He had received e-mails from Australia, Singapore and many other countries to export sanitizers. At that time corona was spreading very fast in the country. That’s why he decided to do business of sanitizer in the country itself. Free sanitizers were distributed by the firm in government offices, courts and complex centers of Haryana.

Survey was also done on the basis of suspicion

Firms who have done the sale of sanitizer during the Corona period. GST has been collected from them. The firms which were suspicious have also been surveyed by the department.Rajesh Beniwal, DETC, Ambala.
