As per law, the appointment of the post is the legal and prerogative of the Prime Minister. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry broke his silence on the matter after a long time. Refuting speculations of differences between the civilian and military leadership, he said at a press conference that Prime Minister Khan and Army Chief Bajwa held a long meeting to discuss the ISI chief’s issue. to which both agree.
“The legal process will be followed in the appointment of the new DG ISI, to which both have agreed,” he said. He said that after the meeting, the Prime Minister had taken the cabinet into confidence on the issue.
The Pakistan minister insisted, “I see on social media, there are many people. To whom I want to tell that the Prime Minister’s Office will never compare the honor of Pakistan Army and Army Chief. COAS and Army will never take any such step. Will not take up those who hurt the dignity of the Prime Minister of Pakistan or the civil system.”
