The police of Panipat district of Haryana has caught a thief with a prize of 25 thousand. He was absconding for 5 years and was committing crime continuously. He is accused in more than 48 incidents of bike theft, murderous assault, buffalo theft and house breaking. 9 stolen bikes have been recovered from him. The accomplice of the accused was arrested in November 2020, from whose possession 53 stolen bikes were recovered.
SP Shashank Kumar Sawan said that the team of CIA forest in-charge Rajpal Singh has arrested prize thief Murshid resident of Jalalabad, Uttar Pradesh. He was also absconding in a case of murderous attack including the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act registered at Bapoli police station in 2017. The accused has been arrested for the first time. He was produced in the court and sent to jail.
Murshid was at the top of the criminal list
The SP said that CIA Forest and Chandnibagh police station were raiding his possible hideouts to nab the accused Murshid. The accused was constantly changing places to escape from the police custody. Recently, when the records of absconding accused involved in criminal cases including bike theft and house breaking were searched, the name of accused Murshid was found at the top of the list.
53 bikes stolen from the partner of the accused
In November 2020, the team of CIA One arrested the accused Hasim alias Mota, a resident of Kairana, UP, while gathering specific information and raiding. 53 bikes stolen from Panipat and adjoining districts were recovered from the possession of the accused. During interrogation, the accused had confessed to carrying out the bike theft incidents along with Murshid. The accused Hasim was sent to jail.
25 thousand reward was kept last month
For the arrest of Murshid, on the recommendation of SP Shashank Kumar Sawan, in the year 2022, a reward of 25 thousand rupees was announced on him by the Haryana Police Headquarters last month. During patrolling on the evening of September 21, the team of CIA One got a tip-off about a visit to the Ganda Nala culvert in Noorwala, Murshid.
The team raided the spot and caught the accused. During preliminary interrogation, the accused along with Hasim admitted to being involved in more than 48 bike thefts from different places in Panipat. Apart from this, the accused also admitted to carrying out several incidents of murderous assault, buffalo theft and house breaking.
Stolen vehicles hidden in the bushes on the banks of Yamuna
The police team questioned Murshid in depth about other incidents of bike theft. The accused confessed to committing 9 incidents of bike theft in the state of intoxication. The accused used to steal the bike and hid it in the bushes near Yamuna in Sanauli. On his behest, the said 9 stolen bikes have been recovered and their owners have been taken into custody under 102 CrPC for not being able to identify them.
