Adivasi Mahasabha in Dantewada has opened a front against NMDC for its 10-point demands. There has been a demand to solve the basic problems like water, road, electricity and provide employment to the local unemployed youth. Tribals said that in NMDC Kirandul-Bacheli, iron worth crores of rupees is being extracted daily by digging the mountains. But, development is not taking place in the villages situated under the hills. Hundreds of tribals demonstrated in the district headquarters in protest against this.
Adivasi Mahasabha president Sudru Kunjam said that the villagers of 58 villages situated under Bailadila hills are facing basic problems. When NMDC goes to the hospital, doctors refer instead of treating. Tribals are discriminated against. In the year 2010, there was a contract with NMDC to build a model academy school from LKG to Polytechnic College degree. For which the place was also selected. But till date no work has been done on it.
Hundreds of villagers took out a rally on the road to the district headquarters. Along with this, a memorandum has also been submitted to the administration to fulfill the demands. Villagers have warned NMDC that they will continue to carry out similar agitations till their demand is not met. Here, when he was called to take the statement of ED Govind Rajan of Kirandul Project in this regard, he did not answer the phone.
This is the main demand
