Police of Bithri Chainpur police station of Bareilly district on Friday arrested two aides of former MLA Ashraf, brother of former MP Atiq Ahmed and mafia, lodged in the district jail. Bareilly’s Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Bhati said that on Friday, the Bithri Chainpur police arrested Farhad alias Guddu, resident of Partapur Jeevan Sahay village of Izzatnagar and Yamin, resident of Saqlain Nagar of Baradari police station area, and sent them to jail.

Bhati told that the property dealer used to work in partnership with Saddam, brother-in-law of Farhad Ashraf and evidence of money transactions with Saddam has also been found in his bank account. It has also come to the fore in the investigation that Farhad and Yameen used to visit Ashraf in the jail as well. He told that both have been arrested in the criminal case registered at Bithri Chainpur police station.

The police officer said that Ashraf, the brother of mafia Atiq Ahmed, is lodged in Bareilly’s district jail for the last three years. When Ashraf was linked to the Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj on 24 February, the investigation started here too. He told that on March 7, Ashraf, his brother-in-law Saddam, Lalla Gaddi of Purana Shahar, jail guard Shivhari Awasthi, canteen supplier Dayaram aka. Apart from Nanhe, an FIR was lodged against unknown officials and employees of the jail.

Till now, in this case, the police have sent six accused including two prisoners to jail. Along with this, seven officers and employees including the jailer and deputy jailer have been suspended. Yameen and Farhad used to work for Ashraf through Saddam and Lalla Gaddi.
