Ravi Pradosh Vrat 2023: Every month there are two Trayodishi in which Pradosh Vrat is observed. The first Pradosh Vrat is observed in Krishna Paksha and the second is observed in Shukla Paksha. The second Pradosh Vrat of the month of March will be observed on the Trayodishi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra Maas. Due to this, second Pradosh Vrat will be observed on 19th March, because of falling on a Sunday, this Pradosh Vrat is called Ravi Pradosh Vrat. On March 19, the Trayodishi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month will start at 8.08 am and it will end the next day on March 20 at 4.56 am. On the other hand, the auspicious time for the worship of Pradosh Vrat will be from 6.35 pm to 8.55 pm on March 19. Worshiping in an auspicious time is considered very fruitful.

  • On the day of Ravi Pradosh Vrat, it is considered auspicious to wake up in the morning during Brahma Muhurta. Brahma Muhurta is considered between 4 am to 5.30 am.

    Bathing is done after retiring in Brahma Muhurta.

  • After this the devotees take a vow of fasting and meditate on Lord Shiva.
  • After this, Arghya is offered to the Sun God by adding water, vermilion as well as jaggery etc. in a copper vessel.
  • Lord Shiva is worshiped in the morning only. Also, it is very auspicious to worship the entire family of Lord Shiva.
  • Flowers, garlands, belpatra, dhatura and durva etc. are offered to Bholenath for worship in auspicious time. Incense is lit and food is offered.
  • Singing and listening to Shiv Mantra, Shiv Chalisa, Shiv Bhajan, Shiv Aarti and Shiv stories are said to be very auspicious on this day.
