Punjab Assembly Election: First list of Congress released; Channi from Chamkaur and Sidhu from Amritsar East

Punjab Assembly Election: Congress has released the first list of 86 candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections. According to the first list of Congress, State Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu will contest the assembly elections from Amritsar East. On the other hand, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will be the candidate from Chamkaur Sahib. All 117 seats in Punjab will go to polls on February 14 and the results will be out on March 10.

Congress has given ticket to Naresh Puri from Sujanpur, Amit Vij from Pathankot, Barinderjit Singh from Gurdaspur, Mandeep Singh from Srihargovindpur, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa from Dera Baba Nanak, Sukhwinder Singh Sarkaria from Raja Sansi and Sunil from Amritsar North for Punjab Assembly elections. .

Rajkumar from Amritsar West, Omprakash Soni from Amritsar Central, Navjot Singh Sidhu from Amritsar East, Inderbir Singh Bolaria from Amritsar South, Dr Dharamveer Agnihotri from Tarn Taran, Rana Gurjit Singh from Kapurthala and Navtej Singh Cheema from Sultanpur Lodhi will be the Congress candidates.

Apart from this, Hardev Singh from Shahkot, Chaudhary Surinder Singh from Kartarpur, Sushil Kumar Rinku from Jalandhar West, Rajinder Beri from Jalandhar Central, Avtar Singh Jr from Jalandhar North, Pargat Singh from Jalandhar Cantt, Sukhwinder Singh Kotli from Adampur, Sunder Arora from Hoshiarpur, Kanwarpal Singh from Anandpur Sahib, Barinder Singh Dhillon from Roop Nagar, Charanjit Singh Channi from Chamkaur Sahib and Balbir Singh Sidhu from SAS Nagar will be the Congress candidates.

Congress has nominated Gurpreet Singh from Bassi Pathana, Kuljit Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurkeerat Singh Kotli from Khanna, Sanjeev Talwar from Ludhiana East, Surinder Kumar from Ludhiana Central, Bharat Bhushan from Ludhiana West, Rakesh Pandey from Ludhiana North, Kamil Amar Singh from Rajkot, Malvika Sood has been nominated from Moga and Sukhjit Singh from Dharamkot.

Punjab election is very important for Congress

With the assembly elections in Punjab barely a month away, all political parties have stepped up their election preparations, despite rising concerns over the coronavirus disease situation. This year, the fight is more intense for Punjab as the state grapples with several issues such as farmers’ protests, while the ruling Congress camp is grappling with infighting.

Voting will be done in one phase

Voting will be held in one phase in Punjab. Polling will be held on February 14 for all the 117 seats in the state. The counting of votes will take place on March 10. Notification for elections in Punjab will be issued on January 21. Nominations can be filed till January 28, scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on January 29. Nominations can be withdrawn till January 31. The results of the elections will be out on March 10. Of the 117 assembly seats in Punjab, 34 seats are reserved.
