Rajasthan Water Minister Mahesh Joshi said on Monday that the truth will come out in the police investigation and instead of speculating in this matter, the police should be allowed to do their work.

Jaipur:

After a case was registered against his son for rape, Rajasthan Water Minister Mahesh Joshi on Monday said that the truth will come out in the police investigation and instead of speculating in this matter, the police should be allowed to do their work. On the other hand, the opposition BJP accused the state government of trying to save the accused. Rajasthan Pradesh Congress chief Govind Singh Govind Singh Dotasara assured that action will be taken if the minister’s son is found guilty.

A 23-year-old girl from Jaipur has filed a case at Delhi’s Sadar police station accusing Rohit Joshi of raping Mahesh Joshi’s son several times during the last one year. In her complaint, the woman has alleged that Rohit Joshi raped her several times from January 8 last year to April 17 this year, promising to marry her. According to Delhi Police officials, Delhi Police has registered a ‘zero FIR’. Information about the FIR registered in this case has been given to Rajasthan Police which will conduct further investigation. The complaint also mentions the rape of a girl in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan.

Sawai Madhopur District Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Vishnoi said on Monday that he has not received any FIR from Delhi Police yet. Meanwhile, a Delhi Police official said that they have started the process of converting the zero FIR into a regular FIR as rape has also been mentioned in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar police station area.
When asked about this, Mahesh Joshi told reporters here, “All I want to say is that I have been on truth and justice all my life…as media reported that an FIR has been registered. The police should investigate thoroughly with truth and integrity. Be it this case or any other case, I will always stand with truth and justice.

“Right now I know only as much as you know,” he told reporters. I will stand for truth and justice. In this case, instead of speculation, media trial, the police should be allowed to do their work.” Joshi said, “I am sure that the police will do justice, go deep and find out the truth.” Joshi came to the rescue. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra said that action would be taken on the basis of the report of the investigating officer of the case.

“Whether it is my son or someone else’s son, if found guilty, the Congress party will take 100 per cent action,” he said.
However, political rhetoric also started regarding this matter. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Gulabchand Kataria accused the Rajasthan government of trying to save the accused. He said, “It is unfortunate that the government is trying to save them.”

State Mines Minister Pramod Jain Bhaya defended Joshi, saying allegations and counter-allegations were part of politics. He said that many things are concocted and have no basis. Meanwhile, North Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sagar Singh Kalsi said that the woman has been counseled and medically examined at Hindu Rao Hospital. He said that there is a mention of sexual harassment in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar police station area, so investigation has been started and the process of converting zero FIR into regular FIR has been started.
