Rajasthan: Now children from class 1 to 8 will get milk twice a week in government schools

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced in the budget, under ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana’, now children from class 1 to 8 will get milk two days a week.

Milk will now be made available to the children of classes 1 to 8 in government schools of Rajasthan two days a week. According to an official statement, the government hopes that this initiative will increase the nutritional level of children, their enrollment and attendance in government schools.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced in the budget, under the ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana’, children from classes 1 to 8 will now be given milk twice a week. It will be implemented in government schools, madrasas and special training centers associated with the mid-day meal scheme.

Additional Chief Secretary (Education) Pawan Kumar Goel said that under this scheme, about 69.21 lakh children studying in government schools will be provided milk prepared from milk powder on Tuesday and Friday. If there is a holiday on these days, then milk will be made available on the next day.

Children from classes 1 to 5 will get 150 ml of milk and children of classes 6 to 8 will get 200 ml of milk. Goyal said that powdered milk will be purchased from Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation.
