The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), which is working to make the country self-reliant in the defense sector, will also register its presence on the path of duty this year. DRDO’s tableau will also be seen in the parade to be held on 26 January. For the first time, DRDO will display its Janki in the Republic Day Parade.

Defense Ministry informed that the theme of DRDO’s tableau is ‘Securing the Nation with Effective Surveillance, Communication and Threat Neutralization’.

This tableau of DRDO was divided into four parts.

The first part is showcasing the underwater surveillance platform, which includes sonar like Ushus-2 for submarines, Hamsa series sonar for ships and low frequency stinging sonar for helicopter launch surveillance.

The second part of the tableau will have land surveillance, communication and neutralizing platforms showcasing the D4 counter-drone system, which can real-time search, identify, track and neutralize targets. Two units of Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) weapon system, Battery Multifunction Radar (BMFR) and Missile Launcher Vehicle (MLV) are also on display.

The QRSAM is an air-defense system that provides mobile air defense cover to the mechanized infantry of the Indian Army in the tactical battle area. In addition, two versions of Software Defined Radio – Manpack and Handheld are part of the tableau. DRDO has developed Software Defined Radio for secure communication.

The aerial surveillance and communication platform Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) and TAPAS BH Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV are being displayed in the third part of the tableau. AEW&C is a force multiplier with surveillance, communication and electronic warfare capabilities. TAPAS BH is the solution to the Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, Tracking and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) requirements of all the three services of DRDO.

The rear, which is the fourth part of the tableau, will showcase DRDO’s research. It featured a semiconductor R&D facility. In this part, DRDO showcases future technology in the field of Semi-conductors, Detectors and NextGen Sensors.

Regarding DRDO’s tableau, the Defense Ministry said in a statement, “DRDO will display a modular 8X8 Wheeled Combat Armored Platform (WhAP) mounted on an indigenously developed 70-tonne trailer at the parade. Key to many critical roles The WhAP can be used as a wheeled infantry combat vehicle, CBRN vehicle, ATGM carrier, light tank, etc.”

Along with this, DRDO will also display many more systems by the contingents of the armed forces during the parade. These include Arjun MBT, Nag Missile System, BrahMos Missile, Short Span Bridge and Akash NG. AEW&C developed by DRDO will fly past in the parade.
