Lifestyle Desk. Although the problem of itching is common, but due to this, people have to be embarrassed many times. To avoid this embarrassment, people do not scratch and are forced to bear the pain. Itching can be caused by tiny bacteria that cause itching as well as burning or rashes on the body. Due to continuous scratching, wounds start on the skin. Itching can start from any part of the body and spread. That’s why it is definitely treated in time. It is true that itching is a common problem, but a new research has shown that women are less prone to these problems than men.

New revelation in new research

According to a study conducted by researchers from Kyoto University, the incidence of skin diseases such as severe itching in women is much less. This is the reason why when it comes to severe skin inflammation and itching, men feel more jealous than women. The research findings were published in the ‘Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology’.

A team of researchers has now found that women have a hormone called estradiol, which suppresses psoriasis.

How did the research happen?

Tetsuya Honda of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine explained that, “Our results not only show the molecular mechanism of gender differences in psoriasis but also shed new light on our understanding of the physiological role of estradiol.”

For this research, the team used knockout mice, which had the ovaries removed but were given supplements. Compared to wild mice, rats without ovaries showed signs of severe skin inflammation. But as soon as the rats were given estradiol, the swelling was markedly reduced.

What the researchers were concerned about was how the lack of estrogen receptors in immune cells made estradiol ineffective against cytokines.
