Former Congress Lok Sabha MP BS Ugrappa and media convener Salim Ahmed have become a cause of embarrassment for their party in Karnataka. He was heard saying in the recording that Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar had allegedly taken the bribe. In their conversation, both also called DK Shivakumar a ‘drunkar’. However, Jagran.com does not confirm this recording. This video has been shared by BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya from his Twitter handle.

Strict action against both the leaders

Both the leaders were also heard saying that the associates of the Karnataka Congress President earned Rs 100 crore by extorting Rs. Later, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee took strict action against both the leaders. Show cause notice issued to party leader VS Ugraappa. Party leader MA Salim Ahmed was suspended for six years.

Recorded conversation before press conference

VS Ugraappa and Salim Ahmed’s conversation was recorded before the start of the Karnataka Congress press conference. During this, both the leaders were heard talking about a bribe of Rs 100 crore during the conversation. During this, he also said that when DK Shivakumar was a minister, he used to take 18 to 20 percent commission. Shivakumar has said that he does not want to comment on the matter, but the disciplinary committee will take strict action in this regard.

The Congress, however, clarified in Ugraappa’s reply that his colleagues were only telling him about the allegations (against Shivakumar) being leveled by the BJP. Ugraappa said that I had come yesterday to address a press conference. Our media coordinator Salim whispered (to me) that some people were saying that DK Shivakumar’s people were taking money. BJP is making this allegation and he was telling me this.

He said that I spoke to Salim after the press conference. Even now you (media) can talk to them. Told me that if you question the media, it is better that you have information, so I told you. However, the Karnataka unit of Congress expelled Salim from the party for six years.
