Launching the ‘Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Scheme for Trade and Agriculture’ on Tuesday, Sharif also indicated that the government was ready to swallow the bitter pill of International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) “stringent” conditions to revive the loan programme. ready for.
“We are ready and willing to meet your (IMF’s) conditions so that it (the review) can be completed and Pakistan can move forward,” Dawn newspaper quoted Prime Minister Sharif as saying.
“I spoke to the Managing Director of the IMF two weeks ago and we have reached out to him…so that the program goes ahead in addition to other multilateral and bilateral programmes,” he said.
Pakistan is making efforts to persuade the IMF, due to which the government of Pakistan has started taking a number of tough measures, including withdrawal of electricity subsidy, in order to fulfill its conditions.
