Rupee at all-time low, price of one dollar above 77.40

In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 77.17 against the US dollar, and then declined to 77.42, showing a decline of 52 paise against the previous closing price.

Forex traders said investors do not want to take risk due to heightened concerns about inflation. Meanwhile, the dollar index, reflecting the position of the US dollar against the six major currencies, rose 0.35 per cent to 104.02.

Global oil standard Brent crude futures rose 0.14 per cent to $112.55 per barrel. According to provisional data of the stock market, foreign institutional investors sold shares worth a net Rs 5,517.08 crore on Friday.
