When the WTM (World Travel Market) Responsible Tourism Awards were announced in London on 1 November this year, everyone was surprised, as MP was declared number one in the world in terms of rural tourism. MP has been awarded the Gold Award for Rural Tourism Program in the category ‘Destination Building Back Better Post Kovid’.
All those countries of the world were involved in the race for this award, which are recognized only for tourism, but the judges chose MP. It took us three years to reach this award. Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board selected 60 villages in the first phase of rural tourism program and 40 villages in the second phase.
The urban people found plenty of rural activities such as bullock cart rides, farming and cultural experiences. This gave us a different identity in the world. The biggest thing is that we were able to connect about 20 thousand villagers with this new tourism. People stay in the village for this tourism. Desi food.
When tourists come, cleanliness is maintained in the village. Along with this, employment has started increasing in sectors like accounting, housekeeping, guest house management, guide, photography. The biggest thing is that migration in these villages stopped 100%. Now we are working to connect 100 other villages of the state also.
3 crore more tourists came to Madhya Pradesh than Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan
This village made no.-1
Ladpura Khas village got the first place in the UN. It is situated on the banks of Betwa in Niwari district. On the second is Kongthong of Meghalaya and on the third is Pochampally village of Telangana. America is on the fourth and there is a village in London on the 5th.
