Delhi Capitals will face Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday in the second qualifier match of IPL 2021 season. While Delhi’s team is the finalist of the last season, Kolkata has performed strongly in this season’s Phase-2. The winning team of this match will take on Chennai in the final match to be held on October 15.
KKR have won 6 out of 8 matches
Kolkata team is performing well in Phase 2. He has won 6 out of 8 matches. In the clash with Delhi on 28 September, KKR won by three wickets.
Delhi has lost its first chance to reach the final
Delhi’s team has done well this season overall and finished at No. 1 in the points table after the league matches, but Delhi have missed out on a chance to make it to the finals. They had to face defeat by 4 wickets in Qualifier 1 against Chennai Super Kings. In that match, Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke Delhi’s heart by scoring hat-trick fours in the last over.
Suspense prevails over the fitness of Russell and Stoinis
Both the teams are struggling with the problem of their respective star all-rounders. Kolkata’s Andre Russell is still in recovery mode. Although he has started batting in the nets, but if he is not 100% fit, then Shakib Al Hasan is believed to be playing in this match as well. Shakib can prove to be very useful on the slow pitch of Sharjah.
At the same time, the picture is not clear about Delhi all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Rishabh Pant had said that he would be fit for Qualifier 1. It didn’t happen. Now it has to be seen whether he can play in Qualifier-2 or not. If Stoinis is fit, he will replace Tom Curran in the playing 11.
