Islamabad, PTI. Last month, a car bomb exploded on the campus of Karachi University, killing at least four people, including three Chinese nationals. Two women were also among the Chinese civilians who lost their lives in this attack. Many times displeasure has been expressed in front of Pakistan on the issue of security of its citizens on behalf of China. Now the Government of Pakistan has assured China that it is committed to the proper protection of Chinese citizens.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday assured China that his government was determined to take all necessary measures for the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan, news agency PTI reported. Not only this, Shahbaz Sharif has also given assurance for speedy completion of projects worth US $ 60 billion under CPEC.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, in a telephonic conversation with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Sharif urged both sides to come together to make the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) fully operational at the earliest. Underlined the need for work. It also talks about increasing cooperation between the relevant agencies of both the countries.

Shahbaz Sharif has already committed to expeditiously complete the ongoing projects under CPEC. The $60 billion ambitious CPEC is a 3,000-km-long stretch of infrastructure projects linking China’s northwestern Xinjiang and Gwadar port in Balochistan. It is being laid through Ghulam Kashmir (PoK). This is the reason why India has expressed its strong opposition to China regarding CPEC.
