Doctors of the Department of Cardiology at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) once again did wonders. Cardiologist Dr. Rupali Khanna’s team on Friday went through the jugular vein and normalized the shrunk valve. In this type of operation, the patient has to go through the risk of open heart surgery. But the narrowed valve in the heart was normalized through the jugular vein. The woman has been kept under the supervision of doctors after dilatation and will be discharged from the institute on Saturday.
Woman’s leg veins were abnormal
Dr. Rupali Khanna told that the left mitral valve of the 25-year-old woman’s heart had contracted, which needed to be inflated. Usually this process of balloon dilatation is done through the femoral vein of the legs, but the veins of the girl’s legs were also abnormal, due to which it was not possible, so open heart surgery or dilatation should be done through jugular vein in life saving. In collaboration with the anesthetic Dr. Amit Rastogi, it was decided to do dilatation through the jugular vein and widen the valve.
This is not the first time that the doctors of PGI have done wonders in this way. The doctors of PGI have already done many complex operations and have been awarded with various awards in the state. After this operation, a new ray of hope has arisen in the patients.
