Kanpur, Jagran Correspondent. On May 10, 25 years of establishment of Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped (AITH), the only institute in the state giving flight of technical education to the differently-abled, is being completed. On this day, the Technical Education Minister will give tablets and prizes to the youth by dedicating the Silver Jayanti Memorial and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Research Center. AKTU Vice Chancellor Prof. PK Mishra and CSJMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak will be the special guest. In this episode, from Sunday, a three-day technical and cultural program ‘Shankhnaad’ will be inaugurated by Arvind Singh, Project Director of Kanpur Metro and Ajit Kumar, Special Secretary and State Commissioner of Divyangjan.

Media in-charge Dr. Manish Singh Rajput told that the foundation of AITH was laid on 10th May 1997 by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. During that time there was the government of former Chief Minister Mayawati. The first director of this institute, built on 15 acres of land, was Virendra Bhasin. Diploma in Architectural Assistantship and Stenography and Secretarial Practice courses were started here in the year 1998-99. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and U.P. Degree (B.Tech) courses started in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering subjects after getting recognition from Technical University (AKTU). Initially, there were 30-30 seats in these courses, which were increased to 60-60 and general students were also given admission in B.Tech. In the year 2008, new buildings were built and B.Tech courses in Biotechnology and Information Technology were started. The students of the institute are working in reputed companies and the institute is promoting education by adopting Durgapurwa, Gilli Purva, Makkapurwa, Baniyapurwa and Laxmanpurwa villages.

Facility to students from National Library of Kharagpur IIT

Between 2012 and 2016, a 75-seat women’s hostel was built in the institute. Biotech department and library were established. Nodal Center for Innovation-Startup Cell, Smart Classroom, Value Education Cell established in last three years and tie up with HAL, TCS, BSNL. The National Digital Library of IIT Kharagpur has started providing e-journal facility to the students.

From poetry recitation to standup comedy night, there will be a blast

Dr. Anuj Srivastava informed that the technical and cultural program Shankhnaad will run from May 8 to May 10. Students of technical institutes like Axis College, PSIT etc. will participate in Techfest on Sunday. Robot War, Hackathon will be organized. In the evening, Yuva Sahitya Akademi awardee Nilotpal Mrinal Kavita and Ashab Ahmed Ansari will present standup comedy. There will be DJ Night of Holy See on 9th May and prize distribution on 10th May. Brain teaser quiz competition was also organized on Saturday. In this 65 students of chemical engineering department participated.
