Former RCB captain and currently the team’s experienced batsman Virat Kohli is battling for his old form in the ongoing season. Kohli’s form is so affected that he has been dismissed three times in the current season without opening an account. The former head coach of Team India, Ravi Shastri, who had known him very closely about Kohli recently, had suggested that he should take a break from cricket for some time.

After Kohli’s dismissal for zero against Sunrisers Hyderabad, once again there has been talk among the veterans whether Kohli should take a break or not. This was discussed in depth between Harsha Bhogle, Matthew Hayden and Sunil Gavaskar.

Harsha Bhogle raised Ravi Shastri’s point when Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bowling for Srich in the RCB vs Srich match, ‘Ravi Shastri has suggested Kohli to take a break.’ Responding to Bhogle’s question, Matthew Hayden said, ‘Does Shastri say the same about Rohit Sharma, who has failed to fire with the bat in the current IPL season.’

He said, ‘Does he say the same about Rohit Sharma? I mean these players are playing cricket continuously. Definitely this tournament. They come so quickly. You take yourself to a mental level. Kohli has been brilliant over the years, so animated, so emotional. To come away from him though just for a moment and you are under pressure.

He further said, ‘You have to show courage. No player ever wants him to go to the selectors and say ‘sorry, I have to be out’ because you want to play. You want to be the kind of person who grooms the innings.
