Ravindra Jadeja scored a half-century on the first day of the game and returned unbeaten to the pavilion, while Shreyas Iyer also remained unbeaten with a half-century. Jadeja was the third batsman for India to score a half-century on the first day of the match and it was done by Shubman Gill and then Shreyas Iyer.

Unbeaten 113 runs partnership between Jadeja and Gill on the first day

In this match of Team India, four wickets had fallen for 145 runs and India needed a big partnership. Realizing this, Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja batted responsibly and shared an unbeaten 113 off 208 balls for India in the first innings of the fifth wicket on the very first day of play. On the basis of this partnership of these two, Team India appeared in a slightly stronger position on the second day of the game. Thanks to the batting of Jadeja and Gill, India scored 258 for 4 at the end of the first day’s play.

Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 50 off 100 balls on the first day of the match against New Zealand. He completed his fifty in 99 balls. This was also Ravindra Jadeja’s 17th half-century in Test cricket. In the last five Test innings on Indian soil, Jadeja has scored half-centuries in four. Jadeja has scored 91, 51, 60*, 12 and 50* in his last five Test innings in India. At present, he remained unbeaten on the first day after scoring 50 runs in the Kanpur Test. In the first Test, Shubman Gill also showed a great game on the first day and scored an unbeaten 75 on the first day of the game in his debut Test.
