New Delhi, Online Desk. In the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Tamil Nadu won the title by defeating Karnataka on the strength of Shahrukh Khan’s stormy batting. Batting first, Karnataka scored 151 runs for 7 wickets. In reply, Tamil Nadu won the trophy after achieving the target for the loss of 6 wickets on the basis of Shahrukh’s six off the last ball. The team had captured the trophy in the last season as well.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final played on Monday, November 22, Tamil Nadu won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sai Kishore bowled brilliantly and did not give Karnataka many chances to score runs. The team had lost its five wickets on the score of 108 runs. Lower down the order Praveen Dubey and MB Darshan played useful innings to take the team to a challenging score of 151 runs.

Abhinav Manohar top scored with 46 while Praveen scored 33 runs. Kishor took three wickets for Tamil Nadu while Sandeep Warrier, Sanjay Yadav, T Natarajan took one wicket each. Jagdishan played an innings of 41 runs while Shahrukh scored an unbeaten innings of 33 runs to make the team champion.

Shahrukh’s stormy innings, won by sixes

Shahrukh made the team the winner by playing a stormy innings of 33 runs in just 15 balls in the final match. The team got Tamil Nadu back in a very exciting match. 16 runs were needed in the last over to win. 11 runs were scored in the first five balls, 5 runs were needed off the last ball and Shahrukh finished the match in style with a strong six and won the team the trophy.

54 runs in 24 balls gave victory to the team

When Shahrukh stepped on the field, the team needed 54 runs off 24 balls. Shahrukh turned the match by scoring 33 runs in 15 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes and gave the team victory. Became the second team to win two consecutive Syed Mushtaq Ali trophies. Earlier, Karnataka had captured Tamil Nadu’s first two consecutive trophies.
