Congress’s three-day contemplation camp began in Udaipur, Rajasthan on Friday. The conference, which also included Rahul Gandhi, focused on a timely restructuring of the national decades-old party, finding ways to tackle the politics of polarization and getting ready to fight for the upcoming electoral challenges.
Speaking at the event, Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi said, “Chintan Shivir gives us an opportunity to discuss the many challenges that the country is facing as a result of the policies of BJP and RSS. It deliberates on several tasks. There is also an opportunity to do so. It is both a ‘contemplation’ about national issues and a meaningful ‘self-reflection’ about our party organisation. By now, it has become clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers are indeed ‘maximizing’ What is meant by the slogan ‘Governance, Minimum Government’.
Sonia Gandhi further said “It means placing the country in a state of permanent polarization. Forcing people to live in a state of constant fear. It is often victimizing and brutalizing the minorities, who are equal citizens of our republic. It means using age-old morality of society. It means threatening and intimidating political opponents. It means maligning their reputation and putting them in jail, misusing investigative agencies against them.”
Sonia Gandhi said, “It means the continuing downfall of our leaders, especially Jawaharlal Nehru. It means glorifying Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin and his ideologies. , a blatant disregard for secularism, liberty, equality and fraternity. This means turning a blind eye to the ongoing atrocities across the country, especially against Dalits, women and tribals. There is more sloganeering, diversionary tactics and utter silence from a forever eloquent prime minister.”
“The fire of hatred has taken a huge toll on the lives of the people. It is having serious social consequences, more serious than we can imagine. A large number of Indians want to live in an atmosphere of peace. They constantly provoke people to keep them in position.”
‘Change in the organization is the need of the hour’
Sonia Gandhi further said “Change in the organization is the need of the hour, we need to change the way we work. We have to put the organization above personal ambitions, the party has given us a lot and it is time to pay We have to do it at any cost. It is imperative to sustain high economic growth. We must generate necessary revenue for welfare programs and improve the standard of living.”
The Congress chief said “But the deteriorating environment shakes the foundation of economic growth. Starting with the disastrous demonetisation in November 2016, the economy has witnessed a massive downturn. Most MSMEs have been crippled. For the first time a large number of people have found jobs.” Most of the assistance provided by the central government has been due to the UPA programmes. The firm tenacity of the farmers and their organization forced the Modi government to repeal three farmers’ laws. Congress Party inside Parliament And stood with them both outside. But the promises made by PM Modi to the farmers after withdrawing their agitation have not been fulfilled yet. I urge the party people to express their views openly on Shivr, but strong party And a message of unity should go to the country.”
