Stock Market Closing: The rally in the stock markets continued for the second consecutive day on Friday due to buying in metal, banking and finance stocks amid a firm trend in the global markets and closed on the green mark. Apart from this, the strengthening rupee and softening of crude oil prices in the international market also strengthened the sentiment of investors in the stock market. Today, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 57,989.90 with a gain of 355.06 points, or 0.62 percent. During today’s trade, it made a huge jump to a high of 58,178.94 and a low of 57,503.90. Besides this, BSE Midcap climbed 0.29 per cent and Smallcap 0.69 per cent.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 17,100.05 points with a gain of 114.45 points, or 0.67 percent. Among the Sensex companies, HCL Tech’s share gained the most by 3.58 percent. Shares of UltraTech Cement, Nestle India, Tata Steel, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank, HDFC also gained. While ITC, Maruti, NTPC, Asian Paints and Sun Pharma shares were in loss. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude rose by 1.16 per cent to $75.57 per barrel. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee strengthened by 18 paise to reach 82.58 per dollar.
