Preparations have started for survey and videography in Gyanvapi Masjid. After a while from now the survey will start again.

In view of the survey in the mosque, the district administration has appealed to the people of Hindu and Muslim sides to maintain peace and order during the survey. Earlier, the matter of survey of Gyanvapi Masjid reached the Supreme Court. Anjuman-e-Intejamiya Masjid Committee filed a petition to stop the survey. At the same time, the Supreme Court immediately refused to stay. Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramanna has said that even I have not seen the petition, I will look into the matter.

In the petition filed in the court, there has been a demand to ban the survey in Gyanvapi Masjid. The committee has challenged the decision of the Allahabad High Court in its SLP. On April 21, the High Court had refused to stay the order of the lower court in Varanasi. The lower court had appointed a court commissioner to conduct a video survey in the Gyanvapi mosque. The High Court had rejected the application of the Masjid Committee. Now the committee has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court.
