Kabul, IAS. Afghanistan Refugee: The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has called on the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to address the problems of Afghan refugees outside the country. Acting Refugees and Repatriation Minister Khalil Rahman Haqqani, while addressing a gathering, expressed concern over the treatment of Afghan refugees who fled the country during the power struggle, Tolo News reported.

Afghan refugees have the largest number of refugees after Syria and Venezuela

Haqqani said that the agency protecting the rights of refugees should take up their problems around the world and solve them. Bilal Karimi, Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, who was present on the occasion, said that there have been reports that Afghan refugees are being mistreated in some countries, which is unfortunate. He appealed to the concerned countries to solve the problems of Afghan refugees keeping in mind the humanity and their Islamic faith. At the same time, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency, the number of Afghan refugees is third in the world after Syria and Venezuela.

There are 26 lakh Afghan refugees all over the world

There are 2.6 million Afghan refugees worldwide, of which 2.2 million are recorded in Iran and Pakistan. It is noteworthy that in August last year, a large number of people left the country during the remaining conflict between the Taliban and the then government.

Afghans ran for their lives as soon as the Taliban came to power

Let us tell you that as soon as the foreign army left, the Taliban took control of the power of Afghanistan. The Afghan people, who knew the Taliban decree, thought it better to leave the country. In this sequence, as soon as the Taliban government came to Kabul, people left for other countries. At that time hardly anyone remembers the heart-wrenching scene of Kabul airport.
