New Delhi, Auto Desk. The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki is working on new models of select cars, which are expected to arrive in the next few years. The plan outlines several new designs, new generation models and all new products. The Indo-Japanese carmaker has already started testing the new generation Maruti Alto hatchback in the country. Reports suggest that its production model will start in Japan in January 2022, after which it will be launched in India.
Set for a generation change, the hatch will receive significant changes in terms of design and features. While it will be upgraded to a lightweight Heartache platform, the engine setup is likely to remain unchanged. The 2022 Maruti Alto will continue the signature upright and boxy stance with short overhangs. There could be some visual changes in the new front grille and headlamps, revised bumper and redesigned taillamps.
Minor dimensional changes can be seen in the hatch. The interiors can be updated with a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is likely to come with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Talking about the features, it could include a new instrument cluster, steering mounted controls, all power windows and keyless entry.
Let us tell you that the 2022 Maruti Alto will continue to come with a 769cc, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is capable of generating 48bhp power and 69Nm peak torque. If reports are to be believed, SHVS mild hybrid tech and CNG variants can be found in this. The new generation Suzuki WagonR (7th generation) will debut in Japan in December 2021. But a little disappointing is that it will not be offered in India. The hatchback is currently in its third generation in the country. The 2022 Suzuki WagonR will get a completely new front face with a new grille, revised headlamps, air dam and bonnet. Other design updates will include a new set of alloy wheels, flat door panels, new squarish arches and redesigned taillamps.
