Aaron Finch
Australian batsman Aaron Finch has played for many teams in IPL, but could not do anything special for any of them. He has scored 2091 runs in 90 innings in IPL at an average of just 24.89 and strike rate of 128.2. Finch has represented different teams in IPL. It includes Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Gujarat Lions, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
JP Duminy
JP Duminy is one of the most underrated overseas players in IPL history. He has represented Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the league, with Delhi having the longest stint.
JP has scored over 2000 runs and 23 wickets at an average of 39.78, Duminy had a stellar performance in the Indian Premier League as a player. However, when he was made the captain of Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2015, he could not make much use of his opportunity. Despite Duminy’s excellent efforts with the bat, the team finished seventh in the league, winning five and losing eight.
Kumar Sangakkara
Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara has represented teams like Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sangakkara has also tried his hand at coaching. However, his IPL records show that he has not been as effective in the league as he has been in international cricket. He scored only 1687 runs in 68 innings at an average of only 25.95. Sangakkara’s record in the league has been quite disappointing.
In 47 matches as captain of KXIP, Chargers and later SRH, Sangakkara won only 15 times and lost on 30 occasions. He even relinquished the captaincy midway through the 2012 IPL season, allowing Australian all-rounder Cameron White to take over.
Eoin Morgan
Eoin Morgan is one of the best limited overs batsmen in the world and has the experience of playing in numerous T20 leagues around the world. However, statistics show that the 2019 ODI World Cup winners have not been able to find their feet in the Indian Premier League. Morgan has scored only 1405 runs in 75 innings in IPL at an average of 22.66 at a strike rate of 122.6.
Ricky Ponting
The year 2013 saw Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting sharing the crease in the IPL. Ricky, who led Australia to three ICC ODI World Cup titles, did not do as well as expected in the IPL. Ricky Ponting had pulled himself out of the team. Ponting, one of the greatest international captains of all time, did not get a chance to lift the IPL trophy, Ponting could not make a good impression in IPL.
