New Delhi, Online Desk. Today, 26 December 2021 is Constitution Day. Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November all over the country, because on this day the Indian Constitution was formally adopted by the Constituent Assembly. The Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution on 26 November 1949. However, the Indian Constitution was implemented on 26 January 1950. After this, on the occasion of 125th birthday of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, in the year 2015, 26 November was announced to be celebrated as Constitution Day. Since then Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November.

“This year, the country is dedicated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary is being celebrated. The ‘Constitution Day’ will be part of these year-long nationwide celebrations. It will be a tribute to Dr. Ambedkar, who, as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly, was instrumental in the making of the Indian Constitution,” said a 2015 press release by the Press Information Bureau.
